It including CAH (congenital adrenal hyperplasia), adrenarche etc. Adrenal is a gland situated on the top of the kidneys. It produces hormones cortisol, aldosterone (salt retaining hormone) and androgen (male sex hormone). Various genetic defects can lead to problems in production of these hormones. Commonest one being congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) with 21- hydroxylase enzyme deficiency. This condition may present at birth or during first few weeks of life with ambiguous genitalia in females and salt loosing crises in male babies. Prompt diagnosis and treatment of this condition is important.
